California has one of the poorest racial and identity profiling laws in the country. And right now, a landmark bill is working its way through Sacramento that could fundamentally fix the broken law and reduce the epidemic of profiling and police brutality that has been threatening the lives and liberty of far too many people of color and minorities in California. AB 953 (by Assemblymember Shirley Weber) will help eliminate the harmful and unjust practice of racial and identity profiling in CA, and improve law enforcement transparency and accountability.
Courage Campaign fights to hold our political leaders and most powerful corporations accountable to the will of the people.
A majority of Californians support expanding Medi-Cal and Covered California to include all low-income Californians, regardless of their immigration status. Why? Because providing EVERYONE access to affordable, quality health coverage is not only the right thing to do, it is also cost-effective, and good for the economy and the health of our state.
Corporate agribusinesses are growing more and more water-intensive crops and guzzling down California’s precious water supply. It's taken centuries to build up California's groundwater reserves, and if we draw it down, we won’t be able to get it back. Join Moby, Courage Campaign, and Food & Water Watch to ask Governor Jerry Brown to realign California’s water rights now!
California has an opportunity to emerge as a national leader on immigration, help contribute up to $27.5 billion dollars to the state's economy, and lift over 40,000 children out of poverty through One California. One California is a $20 million proposal that helps provide education, outreach, and support to immigrants in CA who are eligible for citizenship or relief from deportation.
Despite delivering over 515,00 petition signatures (including 175,000 from Courage Campaign members) and national headline-making protests at bottling plants in Sacramento and Los Angeles, Nestlé has shown ZERO interest in stopping their egregious bottling operations in California. And now we're going to hit them where it counts -- their financial bottom line. Join us!
While Californians are doing their part to reduce their water consumption, Wal-Mart is out there making a huge profit off of the little water the state has left. With a recent report showing that California only has enough water to last the state one more year, it is time for corporations to stop bottling its water before it's too late.
The Los Angeles Times just exposed that California farmers are using oil-contaminated wastewater to grow a portion of our nation’s crops. And the oil industry is making MILLIONS of dollars in profits in return. Meanwhile, the American public has been eating potentially toxic crops. We have to stop this NOW before it’s too late!
California is facing a drought of historic proportions and while individuals are being forced to reduce their water usage, Nestlé is bottling the scarce resource straight from the heart of California’s drought and selling it for profit. With a recent report showing that California only has enough water to last the state one more year, we must put an end to this madness at Nestlé before it’s too late. Join us!
New reports show that Gov. Brown's appointed regulators have been allowing the oil industry to inject TOXIC wastewater into CA’s fragile water supply. In response, Courage Campaign and over 150 organizations filed a legal petition with the state to demand an immediate halt on fracking, which requires Governor Brown’s response by March 26th. Join us and become a co-signer of our emergency legal petition to the governor!
Homecare workers have waited 76 years to receive the federal labor protections that most workers take for granted. Last year, CA passed a budget to allow homecare workers to receive overtime pay. However, the state has since delayed its implementation. Join us to stand with homecare workers and demand our state leaders grant them the overtime pay they were promised. These are some of the hardest working Californians in some of the most challenging jobs around. They deserve every penny.
