Accountability

Courage Campaign fights to hold our political leaders and most powerful corporations accountable to the will of the people.

Help us speak truth to power

Governor Brown vetoed a historic, bi-partisan bill that would have begun to rollback California's catastrophic "War on Drugs." In doing so, he confirmed our worst fears that he cares more about appearing "tough on crime" than advancing good solutions for California, as he prepares to run for re-election. The only way we can stand strong and speak truth to power in times like these is if we're financially independent. We can't be beholden to anyone but YOU, our members. Do you have our back?

Hold Gov. Brown Accountable for Vetoing LIFE Act

Governor Brown VETOED the LIFE (Lifesaving Intelligent Firearms Enforcement) Act, including a bill that would have created the nation's first loophole-free assault weapons ban. He chose to put craven political considerations above the safety and well-being of California’s more than 38 million residents. Please donate so we can make sure Gov. Brown hears your voice, as we share the stories of Californians lost to gun violence and educate him about the value of gun safety.

Tell Speaker Boehner: Don’t kick abused women onto the street. End the GOP Shutdown.

Speaker Boehner's shutdown is kicking ABUSED WOMEN onto the street. Domestic violence shelters and rape crisis programs across the country have begun losing the federal funding they need to keep their doors open, forcing out vulnerable women and children. SIGN THE PETITION HERE.

Tell Congress: You have to do your job to get paid.

The GOP-controlled House of Representatives decided to shut down the government rather than pass a spending bill that funds the Affordable Care Act, even though the Supreme Court already upheld the legislation. And while hundreds of thousands of hard-working federal employees will stop receiving the paychecks they need to feed their families and pay their mortgages, Congress will continue to get paid for refusing to do the job they were elected to do. Sign our petition to demand that Congress lose their paychecks until they come to a resolution.

Remove David Koch from Board of Trustees at WGBH

Conservative Extremist, David Koch sits on the Board of the most influential PBS station in the country, WGBH in Boston. He's already used his influence to corrupt another major PBS station in New York, and he must be stopped. Sign our petition to keep PBS free of radical right-wing censorship.

Gov. Brown: Sign LIFE Act gun safety bills

Key bills from the LIFE (Lifesaving Intelligent Firearms Enforcement) Act sit on Gov. Brown's desk -- including a loophole-free assault weapons ban and background checks for ammunition purchases. With the stroke of a pen, he could give California the smartest, safest gun laws in the nation, but he has a poor track record when it comes to gun safety. We must convince Gov. Brown to sign these laws to protect Californians from more senseless gun violence.

Gov. Brown: Show your commitment to progressive solutions to prison overcrowding. Sign SB 649.

SB 649 is a historic & bi-partisan drug sentencing reform bill that will save taxpayer dollars and reduce overcrowding in our prisons by allowing prosecutors to charge non-violent drug possession as a misdemeanor, rather than as a felony. Send an email to Gov. Brown urging him to sign SB 649 to help end the so-called “War on Drugs.”

Tell VISA to speak out against Russia's Anti-LGBT crusade

President Obama: Boost the Economy by Lifting 2 Million Workers to a Living Wage

In January, President Obama declared that all Americans deserve a living wage. Now, he has the opportunity to quickly and easily make that happen for 2,000,000 Americans by issuing an executive order to require all federal contractors to comply with the Service Contract Act.
