Courage Campaign fights to hold our political leaders and most powerful corporations accountable to the will of the people.
Republicans continue to use archaic filibuster rules to prevent critical presidential nominations at historically unprecedented levels. They are determined to kill Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s inspiration -- the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau -- by filibustering the nomination of Richard Cordray to lead the agency. California Senators need to stand up to the GOP and support Harry Reid’s filibuster reform efforts.
Jack Hagan and Frank Lindh of the California Public Utilities Commission are putting Big Business first, not safety or justice. They have protected PG&E from fines and intimidated attorneys charged with holding PG&E accountable for the San Bruno disaster. Take a stand and demand their resignation immediately.
Help end "dark money" -- campaign contributions from undisclosed sources -- in California. Voters have a right to know who is funding our campaigns, ads and politicians. Pass the California DISCLOSE & Sunshine in Campaign Acts.
Courage Campaign and Forecast the Facts are launching a month-long ad buy on LATimes.com and NYTimes.com to warn readers and subscribers: what they know as journalism will instead become the next FOX News if the Tribune Company is sold to the right-wing Koch brothers. State Controller John Chiang has the power to help stop the Koch Brothers from buying and destroying the Los Angeles Times. Controller Chiang sits on the board of CalPERS, the largest pension plan in the country with the billions invested in Oaktree and JP Morgan, who control the Tribune Company. Call on Controller Chiang and the board to issue notice to both firms: CalPERS will remove all funds that it can and never invest again with these firms if they sell to the Kochs!
California is the 4th-largest oil-producing state, but it is the ONLY state that does NOT have an oil extraction tax. We could raise $2 billion per year to begin repairing the damage of previous cuts to public education. Study after study shows that since oil is a global market, this will have no affect of gas prices, despite the lies of ExxonMobil and Chevron.
When you vote for Mayor of Los Angeles on May 21st, will you be ready to vote on all 4 ballot propositions? It's seriously confusing this year with three separate medical marijuana propositions. We can help.
There are 47,000 active fracking sites currently operating in California with almost no regulation. Reports from around the country are chilling: poisoned drinking water, oil spills in residential neighborhoods, and now Exxon Mobil and Shell are targeting California's Monterey Shale. Demand Sacramento take action.
Stop the Los Angeles Times from becoming the next Fox News. Tell The Tribune Company "No sales to propagandists."
Photos and videos of animal abuse play an important role in exposing practices on factory farms. AB 343 would JAIL whistleblowers for recording the abuse of animals in California. Tell your member of the Assembly "No way, no on AB 343. No jail for whistleblowers."
