YOUR state representative made Courage Campaign's Hall of Shame in our People's Report Card of California for putting corporate interests over the needs and interests of their constituents. And on the weekend of July 23 and 24th, Courage members from Long Beach, Los Angeles, Stockton, and San Bernardino will join together to help launch our new "Building Courage" neighbor-to-neighbor project to hold them accountable. We will train members on how to plan, recruit for, and lead in-district meetings with their state representatives.

No More Super-Delegates: Party leaders should never trump the will of the voters

Under the current Democratic Party nominating rules, 712 "super-delegates" -- elected officials and well-connected members of the party -- are free to support any candidate for the presidential nomination at the party's national convention. They have the power to overrule the will of voters in a close contest.

The super-delegate system is unrepresentative, contradicts the purported values of the party and its members, and reduces the party’s moral authority.

Tell Apple CEO Tim Cook: Don't fund hate!

Just two days after Apple announced that it would not support a Republican National Convention led by Donald Trump and his hate-filled campaign, news broke that Apple's CEO Tim Cook was planning to host a private fundraiser for GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan and other House Republicans in Menlo Park, CA.

It is saddening to see that just days after taking the courageous stand to not align with Trump's brand of racism, vitriol and misogyny, Apple CEO Tim Cook is planning to help raise money for the same Republicans that are backing Donald Trump.

Stop Arming Fear

The Orlando shooting was an act of mass violence against the LGBTQ community, largely Latino, by a man fueled with hate. A man who should never have been able to walk into a store and purchase an assault rifle. No civilian should have the right to buy a weapon specifically designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.

Whether it’s Donald Trump inciting fear of Latinos and Muslims to get votes, gun makers inciting fear of violence to sell guns, or bigots inciting fear of LGBTQ people to preserve power, fear and the hate it engenders are a threat to our fundamental values as a nation.

JOIN US to send an overwhelming message to our national leaders saying: #StopArmingFear.

SIGN THE PETITION: Repeal the Maximum Family Grant

The Maximum Family Grant (MFG) rule was created to coerce poor mothers into having less children. This unjust, invasive policy has forced nearly 140,000 of California’s children deeper into poverty simply because they were born poor. And it continues to threaten the reproductive freedom and privacy of thousands of women.

Stand with Elizabeth Warren and fight predatory payday lenders

The payday loan industry is one of the BIGGEST scammers out there. Their entire business model is designed to trap financially vulnerable Americans in a vicious cycle of debt. The average payday loan borrower takes out eight loans a year and pays nearly 400% in interest and fees.

Tell CA Legislature: Improve police transparency and accountability!

Current CA law bars our access to information related to serious use of force, like officer-involved shootings, or police misconduct, including instances of racial profiling, sexual misconduct, and planting evidence. In other words, officers who have unjustly killed, harassed, or incriminated Californians may still be policing our neighborhoods, and we are none the wiser.

Senate Bill 1286 would change that by cracking open police misconduct and use of force records to the public.

Tell U.S. Forest Service: Only the most rigorous environmental review will do!

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is proposing to renew Nestlé's expired permit for another FIVE years! To renew the permit, the USFS must follow the National Environmental Policy Act. NEPA requires the USFS to conduct an environmental review of the impacts on our public lands before issuing the permit.

If the USFS conducts a robust environmental review, the science will show that they cannot renew Nestlé's permit, forcing Nestlé to abandon their operations altogether.
