Tell Rep. David Dreier to stop paying lip service to our troops
Sign the petition to support the 21st Century GI Bill
Last Monday, at a Memorial Day event in the 26th Congressional District, Rep. David Dreier — chair of
the California Republican Congressional Delegation — said:
“What we say to honor those who serve will never be more than lip service if we don’t ensure
that our veterans are cared for when they return home.”
Turns out, lip service is all Rep. Dreier has for our troops. On May 15, Mr. Dreier voted against the "21st Century GI Bill" — a bill that would fully fund four years of college for our returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
When a Senate version of the GI Bill comes to the House this week, David Dreier will have another chance to vote for it. Tell Rep. Dreier to stop paying lip service to veterans and start expanding their education benefits.
Please sign our petition urging Rep. Dreier to vote for the "21st Century GI Bill" and we’ll
deliver the petitions to him after 12 p.m. on Thursday.

Dear Congressman David Dreier,
We, the undersigned, urge you to vote in favor of the "21st Century GI Bill" when the Senate version comes up for a vote in the House.
We are aware that you voted against an earlier version of the bill and we hope and expect that you will reconsider that vote. Please take this second chance to vote to fund four years of college education for veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
As you know, the bill would allow "service members returning from Iraq or Afghanistan [to] earn up to 36 months of benefits, equivalent to four academic years. Covered benefits would include the established charges of their program, up to the cost of the most expensive in-state public school; a monthly stipend equivalent to housing costs in their area; and a small stipend per semester for books."
Isn’t that the least we owe our returning veterans for their service?
Congressman Dreier, as Chair of the California Republican Congressional Delegation, you must lead on this issue by supporting our troops with the education benefits they deserve. Please vote in favor of the "21st Century GI Bill" when it comes to the floor of the House.
Sincerely,
