Fresno's Mayor Alan Autry's criticism of federal immigration sweeps in the nearby city of Mendota has once again placed him squarely in the spotlight on an issue largely unrelated to his position of running the state's sixth-largest city.
On Tuesday Autry pitched a resolution that would have condemned immigration sweeps by federal authorities and labeled them a violation of civil rights. The Fresno City Council rejected it.
In his proposed resolution, Autry calls for the city to pursue a lawsuit against the federal government to have such immigration raids stopped.
As they voted it down, council members said the city has no place representing Mendota in a lawsuit or passing judgment on federal law.
Much of the brouhaha is coming straight from his fellow party members, the Republican Party.
Their pretty much furious with him at this point.
Republican strategist Michael Der Manouel Jr. told the Associated Press, "He's all over the board."
Apparently Mayor Autry called for a two-year moratorium on immigration just two years ago. Now he wants to end raids.
What do these 2 have in common? North Fork Rancheria Mono Indian casinos.
What else? North Fork Rancheria Mono Hot Springs - linked to ID theft, burglaries, forged deeds of people never seen again, illegal conversion of assets, etc.
What else? "SECRET" WATER DIVERSION! Annihilating innocent and unsuspecting residents in order to seize control of their property to alter the water system!
