Join California Assembly Majority Leader Karen Bass, Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-CA), and General Paul Eaton (ret.) at a townhall this Sunday, the 14th, at 3pm in Los Angeles as they talk about Blackwater's plans to open a private army base near San Diego.

As you probably already know, Blackwater is a private company which has made millions of dollars in profit through government contracts to provide mercenary soldiers in Iraq. Recently, Blackwater has made headlines around the world because their soldiers have killed innocent Iraqis apparently without any justification at all.

In California, Blackwater is making headlines because of their plan to open a massive, private army base outside San Diego. In the process, Blackwater would disrupt the small community of Potrero, destroy hundreds of acres of wilderness, and they would set a dangerous precedent by opening a private military base near the border.

Courage Campaign has joined the effort to stop Blackwater in California, and we are supporting this historic town hall meeting on Sunday.

It seems that the war in Iraq will never end. The quagmire is only deepening with the news of Blackwater killing civilians in Iraq. And now Blackwater wants to open a base on the California border.

What can we do about it?

It's time to make your voice heard.

Please come to a special event in Los Angeles this Sunday, as California Assembly Majority Leader Karen Bass hosts a Town Hall on Iraq and Blackwater. Joining her on the panel will be Congresswoman Diane Watson (CA-33) and Paul Eaton, a retired U.S. Army general who was in charge of training the Iraqi military from 2003 to 2004.

You can hear and ask questions of Rep. Watson and Major General Eaton as they talk about what is really happening on the ground in Iraq and Washington, DC. We'll also see short clips from "Iraq for Sale," which I had the honor to help produce at Brave New Films. In addition, clips from the award-winning documentary "No End in Sight" will be shown.

Please join us on Sunday. Click here to RSVP for the Town Hall and watch YouTube previews of "Iraq for Sale" and "No End in Sight":

Majority Leader Bass is excited about this event and looking forward to a great discussion.

I hope you'll attend. Come say hello, if you do. We have lots of work to do to end the war, block Blackwater's base in California, and build a truly progressive state.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Rick Jacobs
Chair

P.S. At this special Town Hall, the 47th Assembly District People's Council will be collecting items for care packages for our troops in Iraq.
