Bradley Whitford, who became famous on the legendary political drama, The West Wing, has joined us at Courage Campaign to oppose the latest Republican dirty trick. Along with Jane Hamsher, you can participate in a Courage Conference Call on Monday to talk about how we'll put a stop to these GOP dirty tricks in California.

We would like to invite you to a special Courage Campaign conference call this Monday, September 24, with Bradley Whitford ("The West Wing"), Jane Hamsher (firedoglake.com), John Amato (CrooksandLiars.com) and Ben Tulchin, California's pollster for Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research.

We'll also be joined by netroots and grassroots activists from across California and America. Inspired by our netroots-driven campaign, bloggers David Dayen ("dday") and Dante Atkins ("hekebolos") got together with other netroots activists in Los Angeles and independently shot and produced a YouTube video endorsing Courage's "No Dirty Tricks" campaign.

Dirty tricks, you say?

Yes, the Republicans are at it again with one of the most dangerous initiatives ever put before voters. If the so-called "Presidential Election Reform Act" passes on June 3, 2008, California will unilaterally be forced to divide up its electoral college votes by congressional district, resulting in the Republican theft of at least 20 electoral votes in November's general election -- the equivalent of Ohio.

That means that right-wing Republicans will lock down the White House for another four years and beyond to build on Karl Rove and George W. Bush's legacy of dirty tricks to subvert our democracy. No wonder the New York Times issued a scathing editorial ("Stacking the Electoral Deck") calling this Republican power grab an "elaborate dirty trick" by a "shadowy group" of California Republicans that will "do serious damage to our democracy."

Enough is enough. No more dirty tricks. Not in California. Not in America.

With your help, we're going to defeat this initiative. Netroots bloggers and grassroots activists from across the country are joining Courage Campaign to stop these right-wingers from hijacking the White House.
