Statement by Rick Jacobs, founder and chair of Courage Campaign, on President Obama’s proposals to reduce gun violence:
"We applaud the President's bold leadership on this issue. The time for action is now. Our kids, our communities and our nation can ill-afford for these proposals to fall victim to the same old Washington games that too often block meaningful reform. We know that powerful special interests, led by the NRA, will do everything in their power to prevent any reform from passing. We have already seen their disgusting, inappropriate and down right shameful tactics at play. In the name of all those who have fallen victim to gun violence it is time to lead and take weapons made only for mass murder and the bullet clips that enable same, off the the market."
The Courage Campaign is leading an effort to drive support for Senator Feinstein's assault weapons ban legislation. The campaign has already gathered more than 50,000 citizen co-sponsors of for the legislation.
