CourageCampaign.org on the US Senate Deal to Avoid Filibuster Reform
Statement by Rick Jacobs, chair and founder of the CourageCampaign.org, on the US Senate’s deal to avoid filibuster reform:
"While we are happy that qualified nominees like Richard Cordray, and others, will finally get a vote in the Senate, we also expect that the dozens of other well qualified nominees, both executive and judicial, who are currently being denied votes because of Republican filibusters, will get a full, speedy vote too. Washington is totally broken by Republicans who use their campaign of obstruction to grind the Senate to a halt.
We applaud California Senators Feinstein and Boxer for supporting Majority Leader Reid in his effort to change the rules. Now the burden is on the Republicans to live up to their word and end the political games. The American people expect action, not delay. Today is a temporary victory; let's see if it's progress. If not, we call on Senator Reid to change the rules to stop this nonsense."
CourageCampaign.org's petition gathered more than 11,000 signatures in support of real filibuster reform.
