VICTORY: One step closer to drug sentencing reform
Thanks to Courage Campaign's work against the so-called "War on Drugs," we're halfway toward passing major drug sentencing reform. Senate Bill 649 passed out of the California Senate. Bill author Sen. Mark Leno brought it to the floor in a surprise move, but everyone in that chamber knew that 10,153 Courage Campaign members were behind it.

Courage Campaign & DailyKos vs. Los Angeles Times Advertising Department. Guess who blinked?
After the Los Angeles Times Ad Department censored a member-funded print ad opposing sale of the paper to the right-wing Koch brothers, we delivered over 100,000 Courage, DailyKos and MoveOn signatures right to their front door, and changed the ad to include six footnote citations to the Times' own reporting on how right-wing and biased the Kochs are. After Courage Campaign was the first to organize members in New Jersey urging Sen. Menendez to support repeal of DOMA, in late December Sen. Menendez agreed to co-sponsor the Respect for Marriage Act to repeal DOMA. Sen. Menendez also announced his full support for marriage equality in a New Jersey Star-Ledger op-ed. His support brings the number of Senators who support DOMA repeal to 32.
