Take Action

Close the Walmart Loophole

Don't let Walmart exploit a loophole in Obamacare to pass its healthcare costs onto taxpayers. Urge your member of the California State Assembly to pass AB 880 and close the Walmart Loophole for large, low-wage employers.

Improve the accountability and transparency of California's elections

Help end "dark money" -- campaign contributions from undisclosed sources -- in California. Voters have a right to know who is funding our campaigns, ads and politicians. Pass the California DISCLOSE & Sunshine in Campaign Acts.

Secretary Hagel: Support the only real solution to military rape

Air Force Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski (pictured) was head of the Air Force's sexual assault prevention program prior to being arrested and charged with sexual battery by the Arlington, Virginia police department. It's become clear that the military is not capable of solving its epidemic of sexual violence. Tell Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to support the Sexual Assault Training Oversight and Prevention (STOP) Act.

Spark the Subscriber Revolt

Courage Campaign and Forecast the Facts are launching a month-long ad buy on LATimes.com and NYTimes.com to warn readers and subscribers: what they know as journalism will instead become the next FOX News if the Tribune Company is sold to the right-wing Koch brothers. Click here to view our ad, then chip in to help expand our ad buy even further and spark the subscriber revolt!

Tell Controller Chiang: CalPERS must act to save the LA Times

State Controller John Chiang has the power to help stop the Koch Brothers from buying and destroying the Los Angeles Times. Controller Chiang sits on the board of CalPERS, the largest pension plan in the country with the billions invested in Oaktree and JP Morgan, who control the Tribune Company. Call on Controller Chiang and the board to issue notice to both firms: CalPERS will remove all funds that it can and never invest again with these firms if they sell to the Kochs!

End Big Oil's free pass in California

California is the 4th-largest oil-producing state, but it is the ONLY state that does NOT have an oil extraction tax. We could raise $2 billion per year to begin repairing the damage of previous cuts to public education. Study after study shows that since oil is a global market, this will have no affect of gas prices, despite the lies of ExxonMobil and Chevron.

Los Angeles Progressive Voter Guide

When you vote for Mayor of Los Angeles on May 21st, will you be ready to vote on all 4 ballot propositions? It's seriously confusing this year with three separate medical marijuana propositions. We can help.

Stop Big Oil from fracking up California

There are 47,000 active fracking sites currently operating in California with almost no regulation. Reports from around the country are chilling: poisoned drinking water, oil spills in residential neighborhoods, and now Exxon Mobil and Shell are targeting California's Monterey Shale. Demand Sacramento take action.

Bring Some Sanity to the "War on Drugs"

Tell Sacramento to pass SB 649 and allow prosecutors to charge non-violent drug possession as a misdemeanor, rather than as a felony. Freeing up taxpayer dollars for drug treatment and reducing prison over-crowding.

Save the L.A. Times from the Koch brothers

Stop the Los Angeles Times from becoming the next Fox News. Tell The Tribune Company "No sales to propagandists."

We're fighting for a more progressive California.
